DMSO - Delivery of other Treatments

Because of DMSO’s innate design and ability to absorb quickly into the skin and deliver directly to the cells, it makes for a great method of delivering medications quickly and better.

For example, when DMSO is combined with antibiotics as a means to fight off infection, its properties are able to destroy bacteria, making the antibiotic even more effective.  In the mid 1960s this was used with positive results as a means to delivering antibiotics to ‘hard-to-reach’ places such as bone marrow. 

The way DMSO works is that it is actually able to dissolve the protective coating of the virus exposing and destroying it. 

DMSO has been used in treatment of in-grown toenails, calluses, periodontal and gum disease, as it helps repair cells and kill the bad bacteria.

Due to DMSO’s ability to open up blood vessels and increase oxygen supply, it is often applied topically to the sinus area to help open blocked sinuses. 

It is important to note that DMSO is recognized as one of the least toxic biological substances.  However, because of its ability to absorb into the skin and act as a delivery method of other medications, etc. it is very, very important that when using DMSO the skin is cleaned carefully, so contaminants cannot penetrate the skin with the DMSO. 

According to Dr. Morton Walker, when applied to the skin, DMSO can cause a feeling of warmth and he states that is a normal, harmless reaction.

Some have experienced occasional dryness of the outer layer of skin where DMSO has been applied.  Therefore he suggests not applying it to the same area for more than a few days.

Since DMSO is a natural form of sulfur, a mineral that is very beneficial to the human body, it can offer the same benefit as soaking in the natural hot springs.
