DMSO for Tooth and Gum Disease

Periodontal disease and gingivitis are the leading source of tooth loss in elderly and middle aged individuals. It's a disorder of the supporting structures of the teeth including the periodontal membrane, the gums, and the bones, and is usually caused by poor oral hygiene and a nutritionally deficient diet that regularly contains a surplus of refined sugars.  This type of diet, coupled with poor oral hygiene supports the development of bacteria.   DMSO can help significantly stop the bacterial formation, so health tissue can develop.

DMSO has been used since the 1960s in treating tooth and gum issues. An official study in Poland including fifty patients with periodontal disease took part in the study. Eighteen of these patients had bleeding and inflammation of the gums, thirteen suffered from swollen and bleeding gums and bleeding and nineteen suffered from major damage of periodontal disease that included tooth and bone loss. 

Results showed that DMSO treatments helped patients with the most advanced damage experience less pain, bleeding and inflammation while those in the earlier stages found that some of the teeth tightened back up and they also had less bleeding and discomfort.  Since DMSO kills off bacteria, the bad breath caused by periodontal and gingivitis issues also improved. 

Many do not realize that with periodontal disease, since there is an overabundance of bacteria in the mouth, it can eventually enter into the bloodstream.  Studies show that heart disease is almost twice as high in people who have gum disease as it's for people with healthy gums.

Fortunately DMSO is gaining recognition and value in the medical world and some dentists often use DMSO in their dental practices to solve several pain, disease, and swelling issues. It's used in combination with antibiotics and other drugs. It's particularly useful in treating the gingiva after extractions of teeth. The DMSO also reduces the risk of infection and is also sometimes applied after an extraction and to alleviate toothache pain prior to procedures. 

DMSO has been referred to as a "miracle" and is used in a wide array of ailments.
