DMSO for Headaches

Headaches are often a result of the body’s reaction to mental or emotional stress and on average about half of the population experiences at least one headache per month.  Headaches of various kinds affect most individuals sooner or later within their lives.

While over the counter pain relievers are the most commonly used treatment, it oftentimes doesn’t successfully get rid of the pain completely, particularly that of a migraine headache.  However, people have experienced relief by topically applying DMSO to the area where the head or neck pain is – particularly in the early stages, and it oftentimes stops the headache from progressing, whether a minor or migraine headache.

During Dr. S. Jacobs many years of research on DMSO, he did multiple studies on it.  When he had patients complain of headaches, he would topically apply the DMSO and the headache would subside.  Sometimes it would return within a few hours but with a second application of the topical solvent, the headache would completely dissipate.

Some credit this as DMSO’s ability to stimulate healing, block pain-producing nerve fibers and naturally increase oxygen delivery.  Regardless, if it helps alleviate a pain without prescription medication, isn’t it worth consideration?
