DMSO For Pets

DMSO was hailed as a miracle cure in the 1960s and clinical trials began. In pure form, the life of DMSO is indefinite, so it may be used for years. DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide), a solvent has shown to be helpful in addressing joint and muscle pain.

Years of study done by Dr. Stanley Jacob also included giving DMSO intravenously to paraplegics, with some reporting regaining use of their limbs.

Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) is a clear, colorless liquid that is miscible with water and most organic solvents.

While DMSO has sometimes been referred to as "the most controversial therapeutic advance of modern times," the controversy seems to be bureaucratic and financial rather than scientific.

This naturally occurring, sulfur based solvent has long been used by veterinarians to address animal pain, especially in racehorses.  However, it has been safely used on dogs as well.

DMSO can help to reduce joint inflammation, swelling and pain in dogs and horses, resulting from injury or arthritis. This is frequently the reasons why people use it as well.

If you choose to use DMSO on your pets, it is imperative that you clean the area thoroughly prior to application.  DMSO is naturally a “carrier” and it very efficiently passes through the skin down to the cellular level.  For this reason, it is also able to carry anything else that may be present on the area being treated.  So, be sure it only makes contact with another substance that you intend it to carry.  For example, veterinarians sometimes recommend MSM in conjunction iwht DMSO to address physical ailments.  These two combined seem to offer very therapeutic effects to help alleviate pain.

Here is a DMSO vendor of both liquid and cream (the liquid is 99.9% pure DMSO mixed with 30% distilled water, meaning it is 70% pure DMSO and 30% distilled water).

DMSO Gel 90% is formulated to decrease joint inflammation, pain, and provide symptom relief for pets suffering from arthritis or other joint-related conditions.

DMSO has several beneficial properties when used correctly.  Be sure to use with caution and take full responsibility when applying.  For questions, it is recommended to consult your veterinarian.

  2. A harness is made of either fabric or leather, just as standard collars, and fits comfortably around the dogs legs and chest. While wearing a harness, the dog is prevented from pulling as hard and will result in less injury to it's owner. Pet Supplies
